A former star of 80’s soft porn with a huge cult following, Gabriel “Angel” Loveday has tried to shield his son, Oliver, from his past. But now a deranged fan has begun stalking Angel and his past has come back to haunt and torment him. Detective Billy Sharpe chances upon Angel’s case and takes it upon himself to investigate further. Billy has had a crush on Angel since he first saw one of his famous films. But as the case gets deeper Billy finds that his fantasies have nothing on reality. Angel is one heavenly man and he will do anything to protect him from this crazed stalker.
I was a bit unprepared for this work by G.A. Hauser. A creepy little tale of obsession and stalking, I had to get up and check the locks several times while reading it. As is expected of G.A. Hauser Love You, Loveday is an enchanting read from the first word. I was completely sucked into this world of tender passion and heart pounding menace. Angel Loveday was a delightful character and I wouldn’t trade places with him for anything in the world. His struggles to come to terms with his past and still be able to hold his head high had me crying at the cruelty that people so casually dish out. Add in the fact that he is trying to raise a son who has hit that uneasy age of seventeen, not quite an adult but not a child, and his life is one uphill battle after another. Thankfully Billy Sharpe was a breath of fresh air. In the beginning I wasn’t too sure about Billy, his motives for taking on Angel and his case were suspect, add in the hero worship that he felt for Angel and I wasn’t sure how this one was going to turn out. I was thrilled to have my suspicions turn out to be way off base! A bit different than her usual work but with enough of her signature style and plot base, Love You, Loveday is now one of my favorite G.A. Hauser.
